alt.games.half-life?
AGHL, or alt.games.half-life is a usenet newsgroup devoted to the discussion of all things relating to the game Half-life, and it's modifications. It gives people with game-related problems somewhere to ask advice, and 9 times out of 10, have their problem solved.Before posting to the group, it is recommended that you 'lurk' for a while, to get the feel of the place, and to read Bold's frequently posted 'New to AGHL' messages. This can be found on the newsgroup itself, or a google groups link to the latest version here.
A good many of the regulars from AGHL often spend a lot of time in our IRC chatroom, located on irc.gamesnet.net channel #aghl. An #aghl IRC FAQ is availiable here for anyone having problems connecting. More often than not, i'll be in there.
Bashes? What the Hell?
A bash is where some of the Regs from AGHL (although anyone is welcome) get together and play HL or one of it's many modifications, on either a public, or more usually these days, private server. They are always good fun and worth wasting a couple of hours for. On friday night, we tend to have a counter-strike 'bash' on our own server, and play with the emphasis on realism and teamwork, unlike the experience on most public servers these days. This basically means that if your a terrorist who is holding a hostage, you don't go charging out of the front door looking to shoot the highly trained special forces guys who are waiting. That sort of thing. Most of the levels play better like this, and it's usually a more rewarding experience, and often more challenging.Anyway, have fun, and see you all in AGHL......
